Still working on my environment skills. Reference really does make all the difference, but it's pretty obvious to me that I still need to work on my tonal skills.
It's not pretty, but it's a good way to "sketch", or blockout, the layout I want. My initial 2D sketches helped
For the eight warriors I'm designing I had the idea that their appearance would depend on decisions made by the player. The more virtuous decisions made and less destruction done the taller, cleaner, and more elegant the warriors. However if the player is a despot the warriors take on a
I feel like there is some questionable anatomy here (that arm is bleh), but otherwise I'm mostly pleased with it. This is the first time I've really attempted to draw Devika. She's a fairly new character, and a necessary one. Her addition to the story has allowed me to better
As I no longer have a Deviant Art page I suppose I can upload some of my older sketches that I still like.
Below: A few sci-fi fashion designs.
A redesign for Sephiroth from FF7 that was for some contest, I think. Looks rather Raiden-ish.
These are sketches of my character Nasira. She's
I did this painting for a WotC open art test. While attending SDCC I stopped by the Westin with some awesome artists and I asked for a critique of the above image from someone. He (I feel terrible as I can't remember his name) gave a very good critique, mostly
One day I thought to myself "Why do women get the short end of the stick when it comes to cool armor?" So I came up with the idea for a group of female warriors/sisters/daughters of a wolf goddess. The designs for the 2nd and 3rd warriors I had already
Sketches from some random music videos. I didn't pause the videos, but rather tried to focus on a pose (usually no longer than a split second) and then trying to sketch it quickly from memory. It's a great exercise.
I've been drawing off and on between working on a friend's website and my own. So here's a nice big art dump. Some are good, some eh, not so much. Also I should say that I'm getting my life drawing reference from some excellent collections you can download for the
My perspective is embarrassingly atrocious, so I'm adding "perspective" to my list of things to practice. I got a bit lazy with the stuff in the background, which is bad. I'd say it's just as bad as hiding hands and/or feet in figure drawing, or not drawing them at all.
